We celebrating 15 years of English Camp in Czech Republic. It was great to receive this gift from our friends. What a surprise! Yes, of course I was crying. We are honored to be friends with so many wonderful Czech people and are already planning the next year, and the next, and......

Most of our volunteers from Kingsburg Community Church head home today. 2 will stay a few days to visit with Misa more. Please be in prayer for the 11 KCC team members that head home now (with two connections), the 2 KCC team members that are visiting in Czech and go to California on August 2nd, and the two of us (Rick and Carol Anne) who go to California on August 1st. Updates on the group going home today can be found on Facebook at Carol Mendenall. We had a great time and have attached more pictures here.... of course! We had a great last few days of camp. It was busy, busy with English, games, fun, a quiz of Czech facts for the Americans, and, of course, the hard goodbyes. Thankfully we have volleyball tonight and bowling tomorrow to see a few more people. Then it is back to the states already! We are all doing well. Vacation Bible School and Adult English classes are going well. The Badminton tournament was today in the wind, but was fun. Please pray for renewed energy and increased communication. We have fun stories of time spent playing KUBB, soccer (dangerous), badminton, crafts, and much more. We can't wait to share it all with you! Pictures can be found here are on Facebook. We are thankful for a full and fun first day of camp! The weather has cooperated so we could go out for badminton, soccer (fotbal), archery, volleyball, tennis, and KUBB. Everyone, especially Pavel, looked great in their flower crowns!
Of course this was AFTER English classes! We are looking forward to a great day tomorrow. Everyone made it, even with changes in flight times. More yet, the luggage made it here too! All of it!
After a quick time through customs (for 13 people) and getting everything, it was off to the penzion, lunch, then a walk around the village of Cernosice. We got suitcases ready and packed the trailer with camp supplies and luggage thanks to Pavel and his sister Martina. Then off to the beach volleyball court. Hamburgers and volleyball or short walks until finally everyone could go to bed. It is great to have everyone here. We are ALL looking forward to camp! Please be in an attitude of prayer for the 13 travelers heading to Czech Repubic today. They leave in just a few minutes at 6:10 California time. We know it will be an adventure going from FAT to PHX to Heathrow to Czech, but worth it.
We are ready to get started! It has been great to see so many friends and meet so many new ones like Petr in the meat market who lived in Seattle for 20 years. He talks faster than I do in English! We met many others when we did the American Grill Night in a different town than usual. We made Guacomole Bacon Cheese Burgers, Chilli Cheese Fries and Chimichungas. It was an all day (grocery shopping, prep-work, cooking) experience, but great to see so many of our friends there. We met many new people who were enthusiastic about American food. We only popped out twice, but had a few minutes to say hello. We think we made 90 orders. We got home at midnight to wash off the french fry smell! Today was homework for Carol Anne, laundry, and paddle boats. A relaxing day with and evening talk in the garden. We are off tomorrow for three days to visit friends who live a few hours off. Everyone is concerned about our "long drive." We smile and say we live in California. We can't believe we have already been here two weeks and a few! We look forward to camp and are all organized over here. They come next Thursday. Please pray as they travel on Wednesday morning. It is a full 24-hour journey of planes and airports. We have been here a quick six days. Visiting friends quickly, messaging our phone number for this summer, and taking a quick vacation with friends to Sumava. It was cut a half day short when Rick starting having a kidney stone attack. Please pray for a quick time up it. It needs to pass, and our prayer is quickly. Our gracious friends got us to the hospital and back to Radotin (home base 1). Now we sit and wait. Carol Anne will work on the adjustments needed on her dissertation and pack for the move to home base 2 in Revnice. Here are a few pictures of the first few days. |
